Carolyn Platt
Services for retired Topeka teacher Carolyn Platt, 83, who died Jan. 8, were Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, Topeka. Inurnment will be at Marion Cemetery at a later date.
Born Sept. 18, 1934, to Harold and Freda (Greer) Platt in Wichita, her primary school years were lived in San Antonio, Texas.
She received a bachelor’s degree in teaching from Emporia State University and a graduate degree in special education from The University of Kansas.
She taught 24 years in schools in Shawnee; Monterey, California; Silver Lake; and Topeka, retiring from Capital City School in May 1998.
Survivors include sisters Patricia Montgomery of Lawrence; Janette Moya of Austin, Texas; and Dianne Ott of Salina; sons Kevin Roepke of Overland Park; Scott Roepke of Richmond, Missouri; and Kirk Roepke of Euless, Texas.
A memorial has been established with Oklahoma Westie Rescue.
