Centre boys golf team starts with new coach, new team
Staff writer
The Centre boys golf program has a new coach and a new team.
Of the four freshmen on the team, Elias Jirak is the only one who has some experience golfing. The other three, Tyler Nickel, Matthew Madron, and Cameron Spohn, have never played before.
Coach Troy Biehler played golf as a student at Herington High School. He took over for retired golf coach Greg Wyatt last fall, coaching girls golf.
“We’ve had just a few practices so far,” Biehler said, “but the boys are a good group to work with. They are working on learning the fundamentals.
“I’m not new to golf, but I’m new at coaching, so I’m learning right along with them.”
Their first golf competition is April 3 at Herington.
