Charles Stinchcomb

Services for retired Marion cattle rancher and hog farmer Charles Frederick Stinchcomb, who died July 31 in Salina at age 101, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Yazel-Megli Funeral Home.

He performed in a band with his father and grandfather, became a ham radio operator, and also worked as a trucker, gas station operator, oil field worker, driller, welder, and ditch digger.

At age 93, he cut wheat with his grandson using a 35-foot combine. He also was a 65-year member of the Masonic Lodge.

Born Oct. 31, 1920, in Lincolnville to Frederick Charles and May Stinchcomb, he married Rosalene Higgins on Oct. 8, 1943, in Lincolnville. She preceded him death along with sons Charles L., Michael, and Robert and daughter Charlene.

Survivors include daughter Susanne Mueller, son Blaine Stinchcomb, daughters-in-law Barbara and Emma Stinchcomb, son-in-law Ralph Janzen, 17 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established with Marion Senior Center.
