Chingawassa Days
A bit of everything is sure to please
In an effort to provide entertainment for nearly everyone, this year’s Chingawassa Days will have music performances for the die-hard rock and roll fans, as well as those who enjoy country music.
Two tribute bands will rock the park June 3 — Hells Bells and Edge of Forever, tributes to AC/DC and Lynyrd Skynyrd, respectively.
The festival will be capped June 4 when Diamond Rio performs.
Buttons will go on sale Friday for $25 until May 28, when they will be $35 at the gate.
They will be available at Marion National Bank, Tampa State Bank, Central National Bank in Marion and Hillsboro, Marion Health Mart Pharmacy, City of Marion office, Marion Chamber of Commerce, Western Associates, Carlsons’ Grocery, and G&J Video.
A barbecue will kick off the weekend celebration June 3, followed by an ice cream social, and the tribute bands.
Marion Kiwanis Club will serve pancakes the next morning. The Kid Zone will return to the park at no additional charge to patrons.
Contests and entertainment will follow with the Diamond Rio concert that evening. Bands Vegetable, with former Marion residents Oliver Good and Travis Moore, and Clearview will open for Diamond Rio.
A community church service is planned June 5, featuring inspirational speaker and all-American basketball great Wayne Simien.
