With Chingawassa Days a couple weeks away, the Chingawassa Committee unveiled the opening acts for Friday and Saturday’s headliners, Hells Bells and Casey Donahew Band.
Road 23, a Christian band, will be performing Friday evening to open for Hells Bells, an AC/DC cover band. Singer-songwriter Pete Gile will open for Casey Donahew Band on Saturday.
Stevie Warren, along with her family, created Road 23 in 2006 in Meade. She and her brother, Levi McGee, grew up playing all types of music with their dad, Tony McGee, in their garage located on road 23. The band has recorded two CDs, “Shattered Day” and “Refuge,” which features hit radio songs “You’re Not Alone,” “Fear,” and “In Your Hands.” They released a Christmas CD in November called “If I Was There.”
Gile is a veteran performer from Scandia who averages almost 100 shows per year. He’s noted for his original songs, witty humor, and entertaining storytelling.
Gile lives in North Central Kansas, and says he is “rural by choice” because the Midwest setting fuels his creativity and helps his songwriting. Gile has released three CDs, an EP titled “Middle of the Midwest,” “More of Me,” “Modern Day Mountain Man.”
Gile has recently found a niche outside of music, starting a business with his father building rustic furniture by hand while thinking up lyrics for future songs.
