Choir to sing at inaugural event

Tabor alumnus serves on governor-elect’s staff

The Tabor College Concert Choir has been selected to sing at a worship service the day before the formal inauguration of governor-elect Sam Brownback in January.

Director Brad Vogel said the choir will sing Jan. 9 at a Sunday morning prayer service on the campus of MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe.

Vogel said Landon Fulmer, who has been appointed to serve as Brownback’s policy director when he takes office as governor in January, recommended the choir.

The Tabor alumnus was a member of the concert choir and graduated in 2003. He has served as a staffer for Senator Brownback since his graduation. Fulmer lives in Lawrence with his wife and two daughters.

Vogel said Brownback’s inaugural committee viewed clips of performances by numerous groups before inviting Tabor’s choir. One other group also will perform. The formal inauguration will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 10.
