Christmas Giving Tree project served local children

The Christmas Giving Tree project, designed to assist financially limited households in providing Christmas gifts for children 17 years of age and younger who live in the USD 410 school district, served 128 children this year.

“We want to thank everyone who had a hand in helping make this a great Christmas for children in our community,” said Shelly Rooker, administrative assistant at Hillsboro State Bank.

The bank in Hillsboro served as a collection point for toys and money donated by several organizations in the county, including Sons of the American Legion and Classic Cruisers of Hillsboro.

The Hillsboro Lions and Leos clubs helped wrap packages for the 2011 giving tree project, which made Christmas a bit brighter for many in the community.
