City of Hillsboro smoke-testing sewer lines Nov. 18 to 22

The City of Hillsboro will smoke-test its sewer system Nov. 18 to 22 to check for leaks, breaks, and defects.

The smoke is non-toxic, non-staining, odorless, and white in color. Although the smoke is non-toxic, people with respiratory problems should leave their home if smoke enters.

It shouldn’t enter homes or buildings unless they have defective plumbing or dry drain traps. It is advisable to pour at least a gallon of water down drains that are not regularly used before the smoke test.

If smoke does enter your home, call the city building at (620) 947-3162.
