Co-op office clerk likes farmers

Staff writer

Savannah Unruh of Marion has been working at Cooperative Grain and Supply at Marion since January and is enjoying getting to know farmers.

She started with the company as an elevator worker at Hillsboro shortly after graduating from Hillsboro High School in May 2017.

“I was just going to be summer help, but I continued full-time,” she said. “I went on a mission trip and decided to hold off on college because I was not sure what I wanted to do. I had basic college courses in high school, so I decided to make money until I knew what I wanted to do.”

She was put in charge of feed when she transferred to Marion, then became office clerk. She waits on customers, operates the scale as trucks come in and go out, and sells grain.

“It’s a secure job,” she said. “I like the people and have had an opportunity to get to know a lot of people.”

Her mother is Jennifer Unruh of Marion.

Savannah and her fiancé, Bradley Stone, have a 3-month-old son, Brecken, and live in Marion.
