Gaylord and Peggy Goertzen will celebrate their 40th anniversary with a come-and-go reception 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 9 at Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro.

The Goertzens were married Aug. 9, 1969, at Bakersfield Mennonite Brethren Church, now Heritage Bible Church, Bakersfield, Calif. The Rev. Louis Paul Lehman officiated.

Gaylord Goertzen is the pastor at Ebenfeld Mennonite Church. Peggy Goertzen is the director of the Center for Mennonite Brethren Studies at Tabor College.

They have four children, Erica Clark, Olpie; Phil Goertzen, Reedley, Calif.; Will Goertzen, Lawrence; and Amy Jordan, Hillsboro; and 11 grandchildren.
