Concert will benefit community

Tabor College music department will present a benefit concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at Mennonite Brethren Church, 300 Prairie Pointe, Hillsboro.

A free-will offering will be taken to benefit the Hillsboro Area Ministerial Alliance and food collections will be directed to Main Street Ministries at the concert instead of an admission fee.

Concert choir, women’s chorale, symphonic band, flute choir, trombone choir, string ensemble, and chamber orchestra will perform. Members of Hillsboro Area Ministerial Alliance — who assist those in need with food, clothing, and shelter — will participate in the concert.

One of the highlights of the evening will be the performance of “Magnificat” by the concert choir, featuring soprano Hanna Bishop. Maria Loewen and Benjamin Heyen will accompany on piano.

“I’ve Just Seen Jesus” will be performed by the chamber orchestra, featuring Bishop and David Vogel as vocalists. Sheilia Litke will accompany on piano.
