Contest encourages college students to create new businesses

Wichita State University’s Center or Entrepreneurship is launching a statewide competition geared toward college students looking to create a new business.

More than $25,000 is up for grabs for students who create the winning business plan with an increased chance for students looking to start the business their plan outlines.

All Kansas college students are eligible to enter the contest by filling out an online application. The contest entry deadline is Feb. 28. Teams will submit a two-page summary of their business plan by early March. Up to 32 teams will then be selected to submit a 10-page business plan by the end of March.

Sixteen teams will be chosen to present their ideas before more than 200 local business professionals at Charles Koch Arena on April 25. Judges will select eight teams to compete in a final round of presentations on May 2 at Wichita State University Devlin Hall.

For rules and more information about the competition, contact the Center for Entrepreneurship at cfe@wichita.edu.
