In a speech to Republican Party officials before his election, Sheriff Jeff Soyez offered strong support for citizens’ rights to keep and bear arms and said residents should be able to do as they please on their property. He did not, however, say that citizens have a right to shoot lawbreaking intruders, as was incorrectly reported in some editions.

The first name of Marion fire chief Chris Killough was incorrectely reported in some editions last week.
