St. John’s Lutheran Church celebrated its missions festival Sunday with a missionary speaker and a potluck dinner. Marvin Kohlmeier, missions awareness coordinator, presented informative programs during morning worship and after dinner about the church’s missionaries in Guinea.
Georgia Spohn and Gary and Carole Spohn met Melvin Mohn of Lyons and Diane Becker of Chicago, Ill., in Hillsboro for dinner Oct. 19.
Leona Kleiber accompanied Adeline Bernhardt to Marion Thursday for the annual meeting of the Marion County Senior Citizens Board.
Nikki Stenzel took a two-day trip to North Carolina last week with a textile class from Kansas State University. Stenzel is an aide to a fashion and textile professor there. The class toured a textile mill.
Steve and Sheri Spohn of Hope, Leo and Sue Yanda, Gary and Carole Spohn and Georgia Spohn, had supper out Tuesday in Hope in celebration of Gary’s birthday.
Sunday dinner guests of Frank and Anna Mae Stika were Lori Moldenhauer, Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu, and Anna. The occasion was a celebration of Lisa’s birthday with birthday cake and ice cream served in the afternoon. Lori and Lisa came back Monday evening for leftovers.
Russ and Julie Kerbs took Lucille Kerbs on Oct. 9 to the home of Virgil and Barbara Gooding in El Dorado. Additional visitors were Elmer Gooding of Tempe, Ariz., and Cecile Penney of Topeka. After Russ and Julie returned home the others went to Branson, Mo., for a week’s vacation. They attended nine shows and did some sightseeing, shopping and a lot of visiting.
A card party was held Saturday evening at the senior center. Those attending brought snacks. Some of the group played pitch, while others played card bingo. At the end of the evening the groups merged for more card bingo. Those attending included Tom and Dee Duggan, Ty and Amber Peterson, Walt and lona Dietrich, Don Witt, Donna Bundy, Adeline Bernhardt, Linda Ihde, Edna Mueller, Mary Clemmer, and Jane Vajnar. High and low score prizes were given for the pitch tables.
Lucille Kerbs met her son, Tim Kerbs of Salina, in Abilene Oct. 8, for dinner and shopping.
