First district county commission candidates Bob Hein and Roger Fleming were guests July 21 of Durham Senior Citizens. Following a meal of grilled hamburgers by hosts Glen and Doris Crowther and Dallas and Kate Redger, the 26 members heard comments from the candidates.

The Mark Wiebe and Jason Wiebe families ate dinner July 25 in the home of Ransom and Lillian Wiebe. The Jason Wiebe family returned home to Manitoba on Saturday where they visited family and attended a reunion.

Lola and Verla Redger visited Marcella Unruh on July 24 at Eagle Crest Retirement Home.

Houseguests Paul and Della Nichols, aunt and uncle of Roy and Nadine Davis, arrived July 19 from California. They came especially to visit Della’s sister, Ethel Steiner, who is a patient at Memorial Hospital in McPherson. The houseguests, Richard and Charlotte Wiebe, Harold Davis, and Tim and Gary Davis of Texas were dinner guests July 25 of Roy and Nadine.

Wanda Koehn hosted a birthday supper July 20 for Larry Koehn. Those attending included Travis and Sharon Koehn and family, Dalton and Lorna Wiebe and family, Leonard and Dianne Peachy, and Anna Toews of Tennessee.

The A.E. Pankratz reunion was July 25 at Kidron Bethel Community Room in North Newton. Ron and Dora Unruh and Mark and Barb Unruh attended.

Quite a few residents attended a memorial service July 21 for Alma Toews at Alexanderfeld church. She previously taught at Cottonwood Grove Christian School.

Gene and Jaraine Redger attended birthday parties July 24 for three of their great-grandchildren. Emma Brockman, the daughter of Jamie and Summer Brockman, celebrated her sixth birthday with a cookout at her home in Newton. That evening, the Redgers attended a barbecue at Peabody-Burns Elementary School to celebrate the birthdays of Skylar and Jaden, granddaughters of Randy and Tina Redger.

Dora Unruh and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren met July 24 for an annual breakfast at a Durham restaurant. Those who attended included David, Ashley, Alia, Brandi, Elizabeth, Sara, and Lexi Enns; Darren Enns; Katelin and Sarah Unruh; Matt and Nathan Hiebert; and Kyle and Jenna Unruh.

Wendell and Linda Wedel visited Ethel Steiner on July 25 at Memorial Hospital in McPherson.

Dinner guests July 23 of Roy and Nadine Davis were LaVae Koehn and two foster children and Eric and Charity Hightower and family of California.
