Students host supper

The students of Cottonwood Grove School hosted a Spanish supper March 10 for parents and grandparents. The setting was a pretend café. The children, with the help of teachers Marlin and Bethany Wiebe and Leonard and Dianne Peachy, took orders and served food. After the meal, the students presented a short program.

Larry and Wanda Koehn and Titus, and Dalton and Lorna Wiebe and family were supper guests March 12 of Lena Koehn in Newton. Other guests were Larry’s nephew, Kim and Angie Eck of Havilland, and niece Rachel Buller and husband Burton and sons of Fountain Run, Ky.

Greg and Charlene Wedel hosted a dinner March 13 at their home to celebrate their daughter Teona’s fourth birthday, which was March 12. Guests were Wendell and Linda Wedel, Dale and Kathy Jantz, Travis and Connie Becker and sons, Troy and Marla Wiebe and family, and Butch and Ruthanne Wells.

Guests who enjoyed dinner March 13 in the home of Roy and Nadine Davis were Mitch and Carol Unruh and family, Jeff and Monica Ratzlaff and family, Kendall and Susie Wiebe and Abigail, and Tim Davis.

Clayton and Betty Wiebe ate dinner March 13 with Calvin and Janene Wiebe in their home.

Ransom and Lillian Wiebe visited their grandchildren, Kendall and Susie Wiebe, March 8 to become acquainted with their new great-grandchild, Abigail.

Merlin and Karletta Wiebe and Janesa and Harry and Lela Wedel flew to Livingston, Calif., the weekend of March 6. The Wiebes visited their daughter, Jana, and Jantz relatives. They also spent time with Lela’s brother, Willard, and Linda Jantz.

Those invited for dinner March 13 to the home of Doyle and Kara Wiebe were Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Warren and Jane Unruh, Ruston and Lydia Dirks and Chaniel, Leonard and Dianne Peachy, and Teresa Wiebe. Teresa was on spring break from nursing school at Hesston College.

Last week

Kendall and Susie Wiebe announce the birth of their first child, Abigail Kate Wiebe, Feb. 28 at Salina Regional Health Center. She weighed 9 pounds, 4 ounces. Merlin and Karletta Wiebe and Quinton and Dianne Unruh are grandparents. Local great-grandparents are Ransom and Lillian Wiebe and Harry and Lela Wedel.

Shannon Wiebe’s eighth birthday was celebrated March 4 with a supper at the home of Ransom and Lillian Wiebe. Other guests were her parents Jason and Sheri Wiebe and family.

Cheryl Dirks, Bethany Wiebe, and Lydia Dirks and Chaniel visited Verna Smith, Cheryl’s mother, March 3 at Hutchinson to celebrate her birthday. They took Verna to Greensburg to visit her brother, Harlan Yost.

Ransom and Lillian Wiebe went to Grant, Neb., on March 2 for the funeral of their cousin, Twyla Schmidt, who was 74 years old.

Dalton and Lorna Wiebe hosted a ticket meal for the school March 3 at their home. Guests were Clayton and Betty Wiebe, Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Wendell and Linda Wedel, Quinton and Dianne Unruh and Joni, and Karalee Wiebe.

Ron and Dora Unruh’s sister-in-law, Alice Duerksen, died March 1 at Goessel. The Unruhs’ nephews and nieces — Mark and Barb Unruh and Sarah and Warren and Anita Unruh, Kyle, and Jenna — attended memorial services March 5 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church in rural Goessel.

Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Clayton and Betty Wiebe, and Jarold and Rhonda Koehn visited Duane and Louise Ratzlaff on March 6 in their home.

Bruce and Cheryl Dirks hosted a ticket meal for the school March 4 at their home. Guests were Harlan and Sherry Koehn, Clayton and Betty Wiebe, Larry and Wanda Koehn, and Titus, and Dalton and Lorna Wiebe and family.

Roy and Nadine Davis invited Mark and Kris Wiebe, Luke, and Kayla and Sharon Redger of Cimarron on March 6 for supper.

Clayton and Betty Wiebe invited their family for dinner March 6. They celebrated the recent birthdays of Ross and Landon Wiebe, sons of Wayne and Loralee.

Sarah Unruh was home on spring break from Hesston College.

Bruce and Cheryl Dirks and the Jason Wiebe family were visitors March 6 of the Richard Wiebe family.
