Verna Decker, who celebrated her 100th birthday in July, died Feb. 20 at Sidney, Mont. She lived on a farm in this area until her husband, Harry, died in 2003. She then moved to Sidney to live with her daughter-in-law. Memorial services were Feb. 24 in Montana. Another service for her was Friday at Freeman Mennonite Church with burial. Some of the Decker family from here planned to attend the service in Freeman. She will be remembered as energetic, friendly, and a hard worker in this community. Sympathy is extended to the family.
Merlin and Karletta Wiebe had Anthony and Beth Wiebe and Tylan, Kendall, and Susie Wiebe, Lillian Wiebe, Beth Koehn, and Sara Peachy as Sunday dinner guests.
Palmer and Lucille Base visited Waldo and Doris Froese one day this past week at Pleasant View Home in Inman.
Eileen Davis and Katie Unruh went to Bloomfield, Iowa, during the weekend to visit Rhonda Davis who teaches there.
Lola Redger accompanied Verla Redger to a MCC Supper at First Mennonite Church of Hillsboro. She also visited Darlene Unruh in Hillsboro. Marvin and Elfrieda Funk hosted the supper. There were about 17 attending.
Invited Sunday dinner guests in the Richard Wiebe home were Clayton and Betty Wiebe, Harry and Lela Wedel, Melvin and Vera Dirks, Irvin Isaac, and Leonard Eicher.
Ron and Dora Unruh met Ruby and Eulalia Schroeder, Milt and Alice Duerksen, and Marvin and Rosalie Duerksen in McPherson. They had dinner together to celebrate recent birthdays.
Enjoying dinner in the home of Harry and Sheryl Rhodes Sunday were Troy and Marla Wiebe and family, Marcel and Wendy Unruh and family, and Scott and Starla Koehn.
