This area received two to four inches of rain the evening of April 26. Hopefully the recently planted corn, which most farmers completed the night before, will come up OK.

Visitors for the weekend from Hydro, Okla., were Mr. and Mrs. Titus Stutzman, Martha and Ben, who are parents of Katie Stutzman, a teacher at Cottonwood Grove School. On Sunday, there was a basket dinner at the school in their honor. Attending were her pupils, parents, and some friends.

Scott and Tami Koehn hosted a fund-raiser Thursday evening for the school at the Brenton place.

Dinner guests in the home of Roy and Nadine Davis were Tim Davis of Newton.

Clayton and Betty Wiebe invited Dale and Kathy Jantz, Leonard Eicher, Terry and Barb Hiebert and Tommy, and Dalton and Lorna Wiebe and boys for dinner Sunday.

Cottonwood Grove School pupils and some parents went on a field trip Thursday to Salina. In the morning, they visited the Museum of Kansas History. They all enjoyed a picnic in the park and visited Rolling Hills Zoo in the afternoon.

On April 22, about 21 senior citizens met at Durham Community Center a monthly meeting. They enjoyed a basket dinner with Ethel Bartel and Lavern Miller as hosts. Later they had a program by magician Charles Norman and his wife, Elaine, who provided musical entertainment. They are from Hope.

Lola Redger and Verla Redger went to the MCC Sale April 18.

Richard Dirks returned home Sunday afternoon from Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, after having surgery on Wednesday.

Mark Unruh and Sarah attended an awards program and social Monday evening at Hillsboro High School. Sarah received a number of awards in different areas.
