Many mothers were honored for Mother’s Day and enjoyed going out for dinner or attending family get-togethers.
Anthony and Beth Wiebe of Roxbury invited Ransom and Lillian Wiebe, Merlin and Karletta Wiebe and Jennesa, Beth Koehn, and Jana Wiebe as Sunday dinner guests.
Kelly and Karleen Koehn hosted a dinner Sunday at Sugar Creek School for the Harry Wedel family.
Wendell and Linda Wedel went to Fredonia Sunday to spend time with her mother. At Linda’s home place, there was a lot of damage to sheds and barns from a storm early Friday morning.
Guests for Sunday dinner at the home of Ruston and Lydia Dirks were Bruce and Cheryl Dirks and Heath, Melvin and Vera Dirks, Stuart and Lea Isaac and Kyle, Marlin and Bethany Wiebe, and Arlyn Wiebe.
Rick and LaVae Koehn went to the Roy Davis home to share dinner with them and Eileen. The girls prepared some of the dinner since it was Mother’s Day.
The family of Gene and Jaraine Redger went to the farm in honor of Mother’s Day and had a basket dinner together.
Morning Star youth hosted a fundraiser supper Thursday evening for the school at Cottonwood Point. It was a beautiful evening for an outdoor picnic.
Last Wednesday evening, the kindergarten class of Cotton Grove School presented a program for parents, grandparents, and friends at the school. Bev Wiebe taught the class with Blake Wiebe, Shannon Wiebe, and Kaylee Koehn as students.
A layette shower was given Friday evening for Lydia Dirks at the school. Some special guests were her mother, Marlene Toews, and sisters, Katie and Mishayla of Murray, Ky. Cheryl Dirks, great-grandmother Verna Smith, and Bonnie Smith of Hutchinson, great-grandmother Vera Dirks of Moundridge, Karmeta John, Kris Ratzlaff, and Charlene Becker and a host of local friends and relatives.
Mark Unruh, Katelin and Sarah went to Milford, Neb., Friday, for a memorial service of Thelma Stutzman at Bellwood Mennonite Church. She is Barb’s cousin.
Clayton and Betty Wiebe went to Dodge City Saturday to attend the wedding of her great-niece Lisa Koehn to Daniel Berg. The wedding was a 7 p.m. Clayton and Betty were overnight guests of her brother, Henry Koehn. They went to the 60th wedding anniversary celebration of her oldest brother, Robert and Betty Koehn Sunday at Montezuma. They returned home early Sunday evening.
The Warren Unruh family and Ron and Dora Unruh attended a pre-school program Monday evening at Hillsboro. It was very well done and remarkable what 4 and 5-year-old children learned in the school year. Jenna Unruh was one of the pupils who took part in the program.
