A group of Hillsboro women from Durham Baptist Church met for lunch Oct. 8 to celebrate September and October birthdays. Those in attendance were Marcella Mohn, Lois Nuss, Sheila Nuss, Arlene Pankratz, Carol Ollenburger, Shirley Hamm, Pearl Koch, Ruth Hamm, Jane Miller, and Kay Carlson. Pearl was the birthday woman for October.
The David Perry family of rural Hillsboro and Stuart and Sheree Leppke of McPherson were supper guests Oct. 10 at the Willis Penner home. They celebrated David’s 12th birthday.
The Penners attended the 60th Goessel High School class reunion Oct. 9 in Newton.
James Isaac and boys of Wichita were in Hillsboro on Oct. 7 to attend the Tabor College musical. James’ parents, Don and Connie Isaac, also attended.
The birthdays of Pearl Koch and Verna Epp were recognized at a supper Oct. 8 at the home of Gordon and Judy Hiebert. Other guests were Megan Fleener of Manhattan, Tom and Glenda Fleener of El Dorado, Wayne and Veronica Koch and Kimberly of Wichita, Fred and Ashley Sheridan of Lehigh, Robin Reese, Michael, and Patrick of McPherson, and Rachel Epp of Hillsboro.
Pearl and Velma Hadley hosted their daughter, Jan, and husband Dan Schmidt of Salida, Colo., Oct. 7 through 9. Dan participated in the Heart of American 100-mile run at Cassoday. Three other runners from Salida competed. Dan finished in first place.
