Melissa Stuchlik visited her grandmother, Leona Kleiber, Feb. 22.
Jim Srajer and Tillie Hein were among the Tampa residents attending a rosary Feb. 20 and mass Feb. 21 for Martha Melcher in Herington. Martha was a longtime resident of Tampa before moving to Herington.
Tom and Dee Duggan visited Darla Hall Feb. 22 in Wichita.
Adeline Benrhardt, Edna Mueller, and Leona Kleiber had dinner out Feb. 21 in Salina.
Prairie Pals met Feb. 22 at the Lutheran church with Lori Meyer and Jane Vajnar as hosts. Also present were Laveta Meyer and Mary Clemmer. Lori presented a short history of Valentine’s Day followed by quizzes in honor of Valentine’s Day, Presidents Day, National Mental Health Day, and Black History Month. Small prizes were given to high scorers.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended Martha Melcher’s funeral Feb. 21 in Herington. After the funeral, they took Deb Hall out of dinner.
Janie Aita, Antonio, Sebastian, Raphael, and Mariana of Chippewa Falls, Wisc., are spending some time visiting Janie’s parents, Jerry and Jeanne Rziha. Emilio Aita flew home Feb. 19 and will join them again next week. Jeanne, Janie, and children stayed Feb. 20 through 22 with Wayne Rziha, Cecilia, Anthony, and Daniel in Tulsa, Okla.
Lucille Kerbs visited Adeline Bernhardt Feb. 20.
The Tampa-Elmo-Hope Knights of Columbus held the annual dinner Feb. 20 at the Ramona senior center. Tampa knights attending included Tom Duggan, Gene Barney, Jim Srajer, Ron Jirak, Steve Jirak, and John Oborny.
Adeline Bernhardt was a dinner guest of her sister, Leona Kleiber, Sunday.
Deb Hall of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan attended the Knights of Columbus free-throw contest Feb. 20 at Tipton. Kaylee Hall was one of the young people competing.
The Centre FFA sponsored a free pancake feed Feb. 19 at the senior center. The event was well attended by a grateful community.
Becky Routh, Allison, and Danielle of Augusta did some chores Feb. 19 for Leona Kleiber.
Lucille Kerbs accompanied Russ and Julie Kerbs to Centre High School basketball game Feb. 19 against Chase County. It was parents’ night, and saw Rustyn Kerbs play and be recognized with the other seniors. Others in Rustyn’s cheering section were Jesse and Ashton Smith and Sydney of Pilsen, Glenn Kerbs of Dodge City, and John and Mary Roniger. Glenn brought his mother home and stayed overnight. Rustyn visited them Feb. 19.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended the basketball game Feb. 19 in Herington. Their granddaughter, Kaylee Hall, was part of a group doing a spirit dance at halftime and helping with the younger dancers.
Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu and Anna Mae Stika attended the parents’ night game Feb. 19 at Centre. They watched Anna Weber play. Anna Mae had an unwelcome encounter with a deer on her way home, but her injuries were not serious.
Adeline Bernhardt and Tom and Dee Duggan attended the Marion County Senior Citizens Board meeting Feb. 18 at Hillsboro.
Tillie Hein accompanied Jim and Kris Srajer and Cole to the parents’ night game Feb. 18 to watch Grant Srajer play.
Lucille Kerbs went to Abilene Feb. 17, and Connie Thompson took her to Salina for an appointment. They went out for dinner.
Tom Duggan went with a group of Marion County senior citizens Feb. 16 to Topeka for Older Kansans Day. They met with Rep. Bob Brookens and attended a legislative session.
Nick Kleiber visited his grandmother, Leona Kleiber, Feb. 16.
Lori Moldenhauer and Anna Mae Stika attended a valentine meeting Feb. 16 of the Tabitha Society in Herington.
There will be a hiatus for the Tampa news because Jane Vajnar expects to have knee replacement surgery March 16. A three- to five-day hospital stay will be followed by several weeks in Salem Home in Hillsboro for physical therapy. Anyone with news from the Tampa area can call the Marion County Record at (620) 382-2165 in Vajnar’s absence.
Last week
Jerry and Jeanne Rziha; David and Catarina Rziha, Isabel, Samuel, and Kathrine; and Francis and Mary Jirak were in Tulsa to attend a rosary and funeral for Shannon Rziha, who lost her long battle with cancer Feb. 11.
Connie Thompson visited her mother, Lucille Kerbs, on Feb. 15 and took her out to dinner. Julie Kerbs called on them during her lunch hour. Later, Lucille accompanied Connie to Abilene, where they attended a freshman basketball game in which Taylor Thompson played. Glenn Kerbs of Dodge City, en route home from meetings in Topeka, joined Lucille and Connie for supper after the game. He brought his mother back to Tampa and continued on to Dodge City. The day’s activities were a celebration of Lucille’s birthday.
Sunflower Senior Citizens met Feb. 15 at the senior center. After a potluck dinner, Gayla Ratzlaff presented a program, talking about the history of Marion County senior citizens organizations and demonstrated Tai chi. Raymond and Janet Bielefeld joined as new members. Others in attendance included Adeline Bernhardt, Mary Clemmer, Darlene Cramer, Magdalen Dvorak, Tom and Dee Duggan, Tillie Hein, Leona Kleiber, Betty Mueller, Frank Patton, Gary and Carole Spohn, Leo and Sue Yanda, and Shirley Zaideman.
Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham on Feb. 14 in Florence for dinner out.
Lynn and Peggy Kleiber brought Leona Kleiber home Feb. 13 after she had stayed a week with them in Salina. Lynn and Peggy also spent some time with their daughter and family, Dale and Andrea Klenda, Eli, and Evan.
Tom and Dee Duggan attended a birthday celebration at noon Feb. 13 at St. Columba Catholic Church in Elmo. Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant, and Cole also attended.

Supper guests of Frank and Anna Mae Stika Feb. 15 were Lori Moldenhauer, Tien Antoczyk, and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu and Anna. It was a late Valentine’s Day celebration with a cake and gift exchange.

Paul and Edna Backhus hosted a dinner Feb. 13 with guests Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody of Hillsboro, Tom and Bev Reid of Marion, Brad Backhus, Jason Backhus, and Alisha Barney. They celebrated Alisha’s birthday.
Lucille Kerbs attended a freshman basketball tournament Feb. 12 in Abilene where her granddaughter, Taylor Thompson, played. Also attending were Doug and Connie Thompson and Jeremy and Allison Sluder. The Thompsons and Lucille went out to eat after the game.
Jim and Kris Srajer and Tillie Hein attended a basketball game Feb. 12 in Marion in which Cole Srajer played. Afterward they visited Martha Melcher at Herington Municipal Hospital.

Leo and Sue Yanda, Gary and Carole Spohn, Steve and Sheri Spohn, and Georgia Spohn ate supper out Feb. 11 in Hope to celebrate Sheri’s birthday, which was Feb. 14.
Darla Hall stayed overnight Feb. 11 with Tom and Dee Duggan. They met Deb Hall of Herington for dinner out Feb. 11 at Lost Springs. The next day, they attended the district Knights of Columbus free-throw contest at Junction City. Kaylee Hall won in her age division. She competed at a regional contest Sunday at Tipton.
Adeline Bernhardt stayed Jan. 22 through 27 with Barney and Linda Bernhardt in Wichita and then with Carl and Kathy Hubbard Jan. 26 through Feb. 10 in Wellington, while Kathy recuperated from knee surgery.
Everett and Rhea Kolling of Herington and Tom and Dee Duggan attended a Valentine’s Day luncheon Feb. 11 at Hilltop Community Center in Herington. After lunch, the Duggans played cards at the senior center.
