Nicholas Kleiber of Salina, who grew up in Tampa, was one of four Boy Scouts from Troop 214 receiving the Eagle Scout award April 18 at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor at First Covenant Church in Salina. All parents of the honored Scouts and Bill Wendling took part in the ceremony.

The ceremony was followed by a reception. Those attending included Lynn and Peggy Kleiber, Ron and Linda Baumberger and Kenra of Salina; Dale and Andrea Kleiber and Elijah, Daniel and Melissa Stucklik, Tanner, and Allie of Pilsen; Leona Kleiber, Adeline Bernhardt, and Jane Vajnar of Tampa; Terry and Cindy Vinduska of Marion; Dean and Becky Routh, Allison, and Melody of Augusta; Phyllis Kenney and Bill and Dana Wendling of Lincoln, Nebr.; Mary Schulte of Stratton, Colo.; Mona Kashka of Goodland; Paula Bower of McPherson; Raymond and Jane Baxa of Cuba; and Chris and Melissa Stuchlik, Charles, Timothy, and Quentin of Lincolnville. Tim and Amanda Baxa of Kansas City were unable to attend.

Dee Duggan met Rhea Kolling and Deb Hall and Kaylee of Herington April 20 at a party at the home of Debe Knight.

Georgia Spohn met Lenora Graham and Paulette Zook of Florence April 19 in Hillsboro. They attended the Learning in Retirement program at Tabor, where Lyndon Vix of Wichita spoke about his experiences as an attorney. After the program, they enjoyed lunch out.

Dinner guests April 18 of Paul and Edna Backhus were Bev and Tom Reid of Marion, Mike and Jennifer Jay and Cody of Hillsboro, and Brad and Jason Backhus. All of them also joined other relatives and friends at a party at the Jay home April 17 to help Cody celebrate his second birthday. Kelsie Penner of Hillsboro was also with the group Saturday evening.

Tom and Lori Moldenhauer and Ronnie and Lisa Hanschu and Anna were April 18 dinner guests of Frank and Anna Mae Stika. The meal was topped off with cake and ice cream in celebration of Lori’s and Frank’s birthdays.

Tom and Dee Duggan attended a soccer game April 19 at Herington. Their granddaughter, Kaylee Hall, played.

Dinner guests April 18 of Gary and Carole Spohn were Ryan Spohn, Adam and Lauren, and Georgia Spohn.

Jeanne Rziha spent a few days the week of April 12 with Cecila Marie, Anthony, and Daniel Rziha in Tulsa, Okla., while their parents, Wayne and Shannon Rziha were in Houston, Texas, for medical tests. Shannon found out that her cancer has returned, so prayers would be appreciated.

Sydney Smith of Pilsen spent the day April 16 with her great-grandmother, Lucille Kerbs.

Donald and Carolyn Srajer of Omaha, Neb., spent April 16 through 18 visiting Tillie Hein and Jim and Kris Srajer, Grant, and Cole. They were en route to Nebraska from their winter home in Arizona.

Tom and Dee Dugan helped the hospital auxiliary April 17 with the opening of the new community building in Herington and attended the dinner.

Dean and Becky Routh, Melody, and Allison of Augusta were April 18 supper guests of Leona Kleiber.

Family members helped Lauren Spohn celebrate her seventh birthday April 17 with a pizza party at the home of her grandparents, Gary and Carole Spohn. Others present were Steve and Sheri Spohn, Ryan Spohn and Adam and Georgia Spohn.

Rhea Kolling of Herington and Dee Dugan went to see the Herington students promenade April 16 before their junior-senior prom and then attended a card party at the home of Mary Wendt.

Lucille Kerbs accompanied Doug and Connie Thompson to a track meet April 15 in McPherson. Taylor Thompson took second in the 400-meter dash.

Adeline Bernhardt and Jane Vajnar accompanied Dee Dugan to Lincolnville April 16 for the meeting of the Marion County Senior Citizens board. After the meeting they were among those who went to Lost Springs for dinner out.

Phyllis Kenney and Bill and Dana Wendling of Lincoln, Neb., were April 17 supper guests of Leona Kleiber.

Mildred Bernhardt of Lyons was an April 15 overnight guest of Paul and Edna Backhus. She was on her way to Junction City for the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League spring rally at the Courtyard Convention Center April 16, 17, and 18.

Jane Vajnar was an April 16 through 18 guest of Marc and Wendy Stroede of Kanopolis. She also saw their daughter and family, Joel and Meghann Bunch, Iris, Shannon, Joseph, Alexis, and Kaitlyn, their son Dan Stroede and grandchildren Justine, Tyler, Austin, and Akira Stroede. She visited Jon and Wanda Sneath April 17 at Carneiro and saw Margaret Gourley at work in Ellsworth, where she also ran into Laddie and Lou Havlik, former Tampa residents. En route home April 18, she visited Fred and Berniece McMichael in Salina and attended Nick Kleiber’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor.

Lori Moldenhauer and Anna Mae Stika attended the meeting of the Tabitha Society in Herington April 21.
