Democrats receive guest

Marion County Democrats welcomed guest Lauren Helmer to their Saturday meeting at Valley United Methodist Church in Marion.

Helmer was once a winner of the Robert B. Docking Memorial Scholarship that state Democrat Women present.

County chair Eileen Sieger conducted a meeting. Reports on the First Congressional District Reorganization meeting in Dodge City and Washington Days in Topeka were given, where new state officers were elected and former democratic candidate Bernie Sanders was a featured speaker.

The next meeting will be at 9:30 a.m. May 6 and cover the prospects of fund-raising, offering a scholarship, and educating voters.
