County lake plans 15th bluegrass festival

Seven bands will perform Aug. 4 and 5 at the 13th annual Bluegrass at the Lake music festival at Marion County Park and Lake.

On tap to play are Fast Food Junkies, Mountain Deer Revival, Grody Riggins, Jenna and Martin, 80 Proof Engine, Prospect, and The Sassanachs.

The first act Aug. 4 will start at 5:30 p.m., lake superintendent Isaac Hett said. Gates will open at 4 p.m. The first act Aug. 5 will start at 5:30 p.m., and gates will open at noon.

The festival also will feature a cornhole tournament at 3 p.m. Aug. 5 and a silent auction from 3 to 7 p.m. the same day.

Tickets for the whole weekend cost $10 and will be available at the lake starting the week after the Fourth of July. and at the gate on festival days.

Any profits from the festival will be used toward lake improvements, Hett said. “Last year, we did dog waste cleanup stations,” he said, “and it helped with a new pavilion at the swimming area.”

Other events coming up at the lake include a band Sept. 30 and the lake’s annual chili cookoff, car show and cornhole tournament Oct. 1.
