County to help with Pilsen traffic

Staff writer

With masses of people expected to show up when Father Emil Kapaun’s remains are in Pilsen Sept. 25 to 27, county commissioners and the road and bridge department are discussing what they will do to help.

“Nobody knows how many people will be in,” county engineer Brice Goebel said. “Everybody in Pilsen is talking about what might be done.”

Goebel expects additional parking spaces will be needed to accommodate the town’s swell of visitors for those days.

There may be needed repairs to Remington Rd and other things that need to be done.

“We just need to look at what we might need to have done,” Goebel said.

“This is very, very important to Pilsen,” commissioner Dave Mueller said. “We need to be respectful of that.”

Commissioners agreed to set a work session June 1 to discuss what the county should do in advance of Kapaun’s homecoming and other road matters.
