Hilma Bartel

Hilma E. Bartel, 91, died Nov. 27, 2008, at Golden Living Center, Lansing.

She was a homemaker and seamstress.

Born Dec. 9, 1916 in rural Tampa, she was the daughter of Isaac and Effie (Base) Base.

She married William C. Enns May 7, 1939 in rural Tampa. He died Sept. 1, 1946. On Sept. 14, 1949, she married Marlin H. Bartel at Lehigh. He died April 30, 2005. She also was preceded by a son, Monroe Enns, and a brother, Rufus Base.

She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Hillsboro.

Survivors include a son, Jerry Bartel of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Charlotte Rittenhouse of Leavenworth, and Cheryl Burington of Fredericksburg, Va.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was Tuesday morning at Olson’s Mortuary Chapel, Canton. A private burial will be at a later date.

Memorial funds have been established with Kansas Bible Camp or Billy Graham Evangelistic Association.
