Donald Eugene Martin, 84, of Lawrence, died Thursday at his home. He was born on Sept. 17, 1928, in Vassar, the son of Ralph R. and Anna (Oest) Martin.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. He was a principal and superintendent at Peabody High School.

He married Eileen L. Morris on Nov. 28, 1952, in Yates Center. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include two daughters, Jeanne E. (Ronald) Morrison, Louisville, Ky., Carol A. (Steven) Woods, Longmont, Colo.; two sons, Stanley R. (Jean) Martin, Perry, Michael S. (Sheri) Martin, Lawrence; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Naida J. Butterfield, Greeley, Colo.; and one brother Loren D. (Nannette) Martin, Emporia.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dianna L. Martin.

Memorial services were Monday at First United Methodist Church. Visitation was Sunday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.

Memorial funds have been established for Boys and Girls State through the American Legion.
