Dorothy Weber

Dorothy Irene (Markham) Weber passed away Sunday at her home in Kansas City, Kansas.

She was born Oct. 3, 1933, in Marion, to John and Hazel (Young) Markham.

Dorothy graduated from Marion High School with the senior class of 1951.

She worked at Bell Telephone as a telephone operator in Marion upon graduation.

Dorothy married Mark J. Weber on Dec. 27, 1951, in Marion, at the newly built St. Mark Catholic Church. They were the first couple married in the new church. He preceded her in death in December 1989.

Dorothy and Mark made their home in Kansas City, where they raised their children.

She was a devoted member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Wyandot Chapter and served as a Regent. She loved to attend the meetings and had been a member for 28 years.

She was a past member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Kansas City. Dorothy enjoyed various arts and crafts and was an avid reader.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brother Bill Markham, and nephew Shaun Schamerhorn of Pittsburg.

She is survived by children Ann West, Leo Weber, Terry Weber and Mark-John Weber; sister Peggy Schamerhorn of Pittsburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Dr. in Shawnee.

A graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Marion Cemetery.
