Edna L. Schill
Edna L. Schill, 97, passed away in Peabody, Kansas. She took her first breath of Heaven’s fresh, perfect air and walked into the arms of her beloved Savior. She is finally home!
Edna was born in Florida, Missouri, on Nov. 24, 1917, and passed away on Oct. 18 at Peabody Care Center. She was the daughter of Cicero and Jenny Rosela Harbit Dowell. She was the third child with four sisters and four brothers preceding her in death.
Edna was briefly married to Carl W. Kellogg and from this union was born two daughters; Shirley Ann, who passed away at the age of 10 months, and Mary L. Kellogg Wanzer, widow of Oliver G. Wanzer. Mary lives in Denver, Pennsylvania.
On April 5, 1942, she married August Schill. From this marriage, Ronald E. Schill was born. Ron lives in Leon, Kansas, with his wife, Anita Ottensmeier Schill.
She was the housekeeper of W.P. Morton and family of Coldwater, Kansas, for several years, and a close friendship with the Morton girls that lasted a lifetime and is now being carried on by the daughters.
Edna’s life was spent helping others. She worked for the Poe family of Peabody and also at the Peabody Memorial Nursing Home. Edna attended First Baptist Church for many years.
Besides Edna’s two children, survivors also include six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, August, one grandson, Jimmy Wanzer, and one great-grandson, Brandon Wanzer.
Services will take place at 10 a.m. Oct. 23 at Baker Funeral Home in Peabody, with burial following at Claney Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 7 Thursday at Baker Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church in Peabody, Peabody Senior Center, or Indian Guide Terrace in Peabody.
