Elsie Groening, 91, died Aug. 24 at Hillsboro Community Hospital in Hillsboro.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church, with interment preceding at 10 a.m. at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Jost Funeral Home, Hillsboro

She was born July 5, 1925, to Jacob H. and Anna (Wiebe) Ewert at Mountain Lake, Minnesota.  She married Marvin Groening Aug. 8, 1946, in Mountain Lake; he preceded her in death.

She is survived by sons, Loren Groening of Hays, and Joel Groening of Davao, Philippines; daughters, Marilyn Hiebert of Hillsboro, and Karleen Warkentin of McAllen, Texas; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Memorials have been established for Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church and Wycliffe Bible Translators.
