Elva Quiring, 94, of Goessel died Dec. 19 at Bethesda Home in Goessel. She was born Feb. 23, 1918, in Henderson, Neb., to Henry J. and Anna Janzen Ratzlaff. She worked as a teacher.
She was a member of First Mennonite Church in Mount Lake, Minn., where she was a Sunday school teacher and superintendent. She also was a founder and member of the board for Minn-Kota MCC Relief Sale.
She married Sam E. Quiring on Sept. 1, 1949, in Henderson. He preceded her in death in 2008.
Her parents; three sisters, Malita Friesen, Zella Huebert, and Elfrieda Ratzlaff; and two brothers, Lee and Marvin Ratzlaff, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Dennis of Newton; two daughters, Grace Bartel of North Newton, and Clarice Hostetler of Dodge City; three sisters, Alvina DaVolt of Henderson, Leanna Peters of Henderson, and Violet Ratzlaff of Henderson; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were to be at 11 a.m. Dec. 29 at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church, rural Goessel. Burial was to be at Alexanderwohl Mennonite Church Cemetery.
A memorial fund has been established for Bethesda Home.
