Elvera Viola Jantz

Elvera Viola Jantz, 85, died Oct. 4, 2008, at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro.

Born April 2, 1923, at Meno, Okla., she was the daughter of Peter B. and Elizabeth H. (Jantz) Unruh.

On May 2, 1948, she married Harold Jantz at New Hopedale Mennonite Church, Meno, Okla. They farmed near Tampa until 1994 when they retired and moved to North Newton.

She was a member of Friedenstal Mennonite Church and Central Heights Mennonite Church. She taught children’s Bible school classes and participated in church music programs.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Harold Unruh and Melvin Unruh; a sister, Florene Berman; and a grandson, Zachary Jantz.

Elvera is survived by her husband; twins daughter, Deanna and Harold Webb of Highland, Calif., and son, Rodney and Karen Jantz of Stilwell, and son, Bradley Jantz of Newton; two sisters, Delores Stevens of Denison, Texas and Dorothy Koehn of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and six grandchildren.

Visitation was Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home. A memorial service was Friday afternoon at Faith Mennonite Church with a private burial at Peace Valley Cemetery.
