According to fire and ambulance transmissions, monitored by the newspaper:

August 4

10:19 a.m. — Marion ambulance responded to the 100 block of N. Walnut St. after an alarm company had advised that their client pressed an alarm and was not responding to their communications. Responders found the individual outside mowing her lawn; she had pushed the button accidentally.

11:09 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance, Marion ambulance, Marion rescue, and Marion fire responded to US-56 and Old Mill Rd. for an injury accident involving a car and a semi, which had caught fire. Hillsboro EMS took the driver of the semi to St. Luke Hospital, while the 15-year-old driver of the car was airlifted to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

10:01 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transferred a male patient from Bethesda Homes, Goessel, to Newton Medical Center’s Emergency Room.

August 5

7:00 a.m. — Peabody fire was called to US-50 for a transformer that had been struck by lightning. A sheriff’s deputy reported that there was no fire on the scene, so Peabody fire was dismissed.

THURSDAY

No calls recorded.

Friday

8:21 p.m. — Marion ambulance responded to the 400 block of N. Lincoln St. after receiving a call from a third party saying his mother’s oxygen was not working and she was not breathing properly. The woman was not transported.

10:42 p.m. — Marion ambulance responded to Yarrow Rd. near 220th St. for a woman in her 80s whose granddaughter said was in and out of alertness. She was transported to St. Luke.

Saturday

5:16 a.m. — Marion fire responded to a brush fire near the US-55/77 at K-150. Marion firefighters then turned the fire over to the owners.

7:51 a.m. — Hillsboro fire responded to a gas meter that was leaking on S. Ash St.

1:36 p.m. — Peabody fire responded to a truck hauling rock that had caught fire on US-50. The trailer holding rock was reported to have been dragged with no rims or tires. An intoxication test was requested.

1:53 p.m. — Marion ambulance, Marion rescue, Lincolnville first responders, and Lincolnville fire responded to a one-vehicle injury accident near 250th Rd. and US-77. The victim was airlifted to an undisclosed location.

10:03 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transported a woman in her 80s who had suffered a possible stroke and possible broken hip from E. 175th Rd. to HCH, and then to Newton Medical.

11:49 p.m. — Hillsboro fire responded to the Tabor College townhouses, where a fire alarm was going off. After the alarm was reset, Hillsboro fire was released from the scene.

sunday

5:10 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transported a woman who had fallen from the 500 block of S. Lincoln St. to HCH.

7:48 a.m. — Goessel first responders and Hillsboro ambulance transported from the 200 block of W. Main St. in Goessel to Newton Medical a man whose wife believed he was having a heart attack.

11:39 a.m. — Florence ambulance transported a woman in her 50s who believed she was having issues with her gallbladder from the 200 block of Walnut St. in Cedar Point to St. Luke.

1:35 p.m. — Peabody ambulance responded to the 500 block of N. Vine St. for a woman whose husband found her slumped over in her chair, barely conscious but breathing. The woman not transported.

9:52 p.m. — Marion ambulance was put on standby while sheriff deputies investigated a situation at Quail Creek Rd. near 170th St. where a man was reported to be acting strangely and had a gun. It was resolved successfully.

Monday

6:24 a.m. —Marion fire was called to W. Santa Fe St. next to the transfer station for a possible gas leak, possibly caused by a semi hitting something in a yard.

12:11 p.m. — Hillsboro and Tampa ambulances, Hillsboro rescue, and Tampa fire were paged to a two vehicle accident near 330th Rd. and K-15. Hillsboro ambulance transported a patient to HCH.

12:52 p.m. — Marion ambulance was paged to the 400 block of Floral Dr. in Hillsboro for a woman who was having difficulty standing, but Hillsboro advised they were able to take the call. They transported the patient to HCH. Hillsboro rescue was called for lifting assistance.

2:10 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance response to the 200 block of S. Birch St. for a man who had fallen and possibly was intoxicated. This was a non-transport call.

5:32 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transferred a patient from HCH to Wesley.

10:02 p.m. — Hillsboro fire responded to the 200 block of Grand St. in Marion for a fuel detector going off. Dispatchers said they had paged Marion and had gotten no response. The newspaper’s system did not record a call to Marion ambulance.
