Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:
2:16 a.m. — A patient was transferred from St. Luke Hospital, Marion, to Newton Medical Center by Marion ambulance.
9:24 a.m. — A 58-year-old Westview Manor patient who became confused and swallowed something was taken to Newton Med by Peabody ambulance.
3:03 p.m. — Marion ambulance and Florence first responders were sent as a precaution to a non-injury accident in which a semi-trailer truck turned onto its side while attempting to negotiate the US-50/77 roundabout at Florence. The driver declined to be taken to a hospital. The county emergency medical director and Florence firefighters also responded.
6:09 p.m. — A 92-year-old woman who fell at an apartment in the 200 block of S. Ash St. in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
7:22 p.m. — A 76-year-old woman with fever and abdominal pain was taken from Parkside Homes to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
8:14 p.m. — A 94-year-old woman with atrial fibrillation was taken from Parkside Homes to HCH.
11:38 p.m. — Dispatchers told Marion and Hillsboro ambulances to simultaneously report to HCH to transfer patients — one to Via Christi – St. Francis and the other to Kansas Heart Hospital, both in Wichita.
Marion ambulance informed dispatchers the second transfer would have to wait, as both ambulances could not be out of the county on transfers at the same time.
Hillsboro ambulance made the first transfer at 12:05 a.m., returned and made the second transfer at 2:24 a.m. The ambulance was back in its station at 4:25 a.m.
11:44 p.m. — Goessel firefighters help lift a patient for a McPherson County ambulance.
5:56 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was sent to help a woman having trouble breathing in the 400 block of Adams St., but the outcome of the call was not recorded.
5:07 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Newton Med by Marion ambulance.
5:40 p.m. — A Marion firefighter determined that city workers had intentionally and safely set a fire that was reported at the city tree dump.
1:39 p.m. — A shaky elderly man with high blood pressure at Homestead Senior Residences in Marion declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.
9:39 p.m. — An unresponsive diabetic in the 400 block of S. 4th St. awoke but declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.
7:31 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance transported a patient to Moundridge Hospital. Details of the call were not recorded.
8:45 a.m. — Marion ambulance returned from an out-of-county call, details of which were not recorded.
2:56 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita, by Marion ambulance.
12:52 a.m. — As a precaution against flooding, Peabody fire equipment and ambulance were moved from their stations to higher ground
4:27 a.m. — Peabody firefighters assisted police in evacuating to Florence Christian Church residents of flooded S. Olive St.
5:34 a.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was sent to an apartment in the 400 block of S. Washington St. for a resident experiencing neck pain. Additional information about the call was not recorded.
8:38 a.m. — A 74-year-old who fell and may have broken a leg at Peabody Health and Rehab was taken to Newton Med by Peabody ambulance. Marion ambulance also responded to the call.
11:41 a.m. — A false alarm indicating fire at St. Luke was checked by Marion firefighters.
4:20 p.m. — A sheriff’s deputy and Tampa and Marion ambulances were dispatched to what appeared to be a firearms suicide in the 300 block of N. B St. in Ramona.
5:55 a.m. — A motorist stranded in water up to her vehicle’s door at an underpass on 9th St. in Peabody was helped by Peabody firefighters.
10:59 p.m. — A man who fell at a residence in the 700 block of N. Elm St. in Peabody declined to be taken to a hospital by Peabody ambulance.
1:22 a.m. — Marion ambulance drew blood from a suspect at the request of Hillsboro police.
8:21 a.m. — An 86-year-old man who couldn’t get out of bed in the 400 block of Washington St. in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
11:00 a.m. — A dizzy 94-year-old woman was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke from the 1500 block of Victory Lane in Marion.
2:48 p.m. — A 20-year-old man who fell in a bathtub and suffered a nosebleed in the 200 block of S. Elm St. in Hillsboro declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance. The county EMS director also responded to the call.
