Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper. Some calls may have been missed because of technical problems.

JULY 9

9:17 a.m. — A 20-year-old man having a seizure at Wendy’s in Hillsboro was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

4:19 p.m. — A false alarm at Peabody Health and Rehab briefly alerted Peabody firefighters.

5:42 p.m. — A 10-year-old who hurt his knee at Marion County Lake swimming beach was taken to Newton Medical Center by Marion ambulance.

7:07 p.m. — A confused 94-year-old man who was found on the ground near 170th and Limestone Rds. was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance, which was delayed by an impassable road.

JULY 10

1:16 a.m. — A 71-year-old woman initially thought to be having a stroke in the 400 block of S. State St. in Goessel was taken to Newton Med by Hillsboro ambulance. Goessel first responders were paged but did not reply.

2:21 a.m. — An HCH patient was transferred to Via Christi – St. Joseph Hospital, Wichita, by Hillsboro ambulance. Dispatchers initially assigned the call to Marion ambulance, but Marion attendants said they could not leave the county for a non-emergency until Hillsboro ambulance returned.

2:28 a.m. — A 71-year-old woman who needed help after falling out of bed at a home near 360th and Limestone Rds. declined to be taken to a hospital by Tampa ambulance.

6:42 a.m. — A leaking gas meter in the 500 block of N. Cedar St. in Marion was monitored by Marion firefighters until a gas company worker arrived.

THURSDAY

11:27 a.m. — An alert from a medical monitoring company for a residence near 300th and Falcon Rds. proved to be a false alarm. Both Tampa ambulance and a Durham first responder were sent to the call.

12:55 p.m. — A patient at St. Luke Hospital, Marion, was transferred to Newton Med by Marion ambulance.

2:27 p.m. — A 105-year-old woman who hurt her hip when she fell outside a residence near 280th and Banner Rds. was taken to St. Luke by Tampa ambulance. First responders from Lincolnville assisted with the call.

7:24 p.m. — A 72-year-old woman with back pain was taken by Tampa ambulance to St. Luke from the 300 block of County Rd. in Tampa. A Tampa firefighter helped lift her.

FRIDAY

3:20 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, by Marion ambulance.

11:58 p.m. — An 85-year-old man who fell in the 100 block of N. Wilson St. in Hillsboro was helped up but declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

SATURDAY

2:34 a.m. — An 82-year-old woman with abdominal and back pain was taken from the 100 block of S. Wilson St. in Hillsboro to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

7:01 a.m. — A nauseated 80-year-old woman with diabetes was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Med from a home near 170th and Alamo Rds. Goessel first responders also were paged but did not answer the call.

4:28 p.m. — An intoxicated visitor lying in grass near Peabody Health and Rehab’s parking lot was taken to St. Luke by Peabody ambulance.

SUNDAY

10:32 a.m. — An 86-year-old man with high blood pressure pain on his right side was taken from Peabody Health and Rehab to Newton Med by Peabody ambulance.

12:08 p.m. — A 58-year-old man who might have suffered a stroke at an apartment near Main St. and Eisenhower Dr. in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

3:39 p.m. — As many as five people involved in a two-vehicle accident on US-50 near Mustang Rd. were taken to St. Francis by Hillsboro, Marion, and Peabody ambulances, which were diverted there from Newton Med. Peabody firefighters also spent about an hour at the accident scene.

7:06 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to McPherson Hospital by Marion ambulance.

7:33 p.m. — A strange smell at a residence in the 500 block of S. Adams St. in Hillsboro proved not to be leaking gas when checked by Hillsboro firefighters.

MONDAY

9:32 a.m. — A gas line hit by a motorist in the 100 block of S. Cedar St. in Goessel was monitored by Goessel firefighters for more than an hour until gas company employees could arrive.

10:39 a.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita, by Marion ambulance.

12:29 p.m. — A patient being transferred to St. Luke via air ambulance was met at Marion airport by Hillsboro ambulance, which responded because Marion ambulance had not yet returned from Wichita.

7:35 p.m. — A small fire in bushes in the 900 block of N. Walnut St. was extinguished before Peabody firefighters arrived.

10:20 p.m. — A Bethesda Home patient who fell at the Goessel nursing home declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
