Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

DEC. 29

12:04 a.m. — A woman at Homestead Senior Residences in Marion activated a medical alarm so Marion ambulance attendants could help her up after a fall. She declined to be taken to a hospital.

DEC. 30

1:47 p.m. — A Hillsboro Community Hospital patient was transferred to Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita, by Hillsboro ambulance.

5:29 p.m. — A weak and lethargic man at Salem Home, Hillsboro, was taken to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, by Hillsboro ambulance.

9:46 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, by Marion ambulance.

9:55 p.m. — A vomiting patient in his or her 70s was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to Newton Medical Center from a residence near 140th and Falcon Rds. A Goessel first responder assisted, and Goessel firefighters helped lift the patient.

DEC. 31

12:25 a.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Salem Home by Hillsboro ambulance.

8:10 a.m. — A Homestead resident whose wife could not wake him was pronounced dead by Marion EMTs and the county ambulance director.

10:58 a.m. — An HCH patient was transferred to Kansas Heart by Hillsboro ambulance.

6:41 p.m. — A 69-year-old woman with a rapid pulse and trouble breathing was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke from the 200 block of W. 1st St. in Lincolnville. Lincolnville firefighters and first responders assisted.

8:38 p.m. — An HCH patient was transferred to Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, by Hillsboro ambulance. The county ambulance director delayed departure of the ambulance until after Marion ambulance could return from a pending out-of-county call.

8:51 p.m. — In that call, a St. Luke patient was transferred to Newton Med by Marion ambulance. When Marion ambulance returned at 10:32 p.m., Hillsboro ambulance began the transfer from HCH.

JAN. 1

6:12 a.m. — An unresponsive Salem Home resident was not breathing when Hillsboro ambulance arrived. The patient was pronounced dead.

9:24 a.m. — A 53-year-old woman with trouble breathing in the 300 block of County Rd. in Tampa was checked by EMTs from Tampa ambulance but declined to be taken to a hospital.

6:16 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance reported assisting but not transporting a person. No additional information was provided.

7:22 p.m. — Two people injured in a three-vehicle accident at US-77 and K-256 were taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. Hillsboro ambulance and Marion and Florence rescue squads initially were dispatched but not needed. Marion firefighters assisted with traffic control for nearly two hours.

10:58 p.m. — A 57-year-old man having a seizure in the 200 block of N. Church St. in Goessel was checked by Goessel first responders and Hillsboro EMTs but declined to be taken to a hospital. At the same time, Goessel first responders also were dispatched by McPherson County for a person who had fallen in that county.

THURSDAY

Between 6 and 9 a.m. — A patient was transported to St. Luke by Marion ambulance and an additional call was completed by Hillsboro ambulance. Details were not recorded because of a technical problem at the newspaper.

10:52 a.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Newton Med by Marion ambulance.

2:03 p.m. — A 71-year-old woman who previously had suffered a stroke was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to St. Luke from the 400 block of S. Date St. in Hillsboro.

2:26 p.m. — A gas leak in an oil field north of K-150 on Zebulon Rd. was monitored by Marion firefighters for an hour until a Shawmar Oil representative could shut off the flow.

4:41 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to Newton Med by Marion ambulance.

FRIDAY

7:35 a.m. — A woman who suffered a seizure at Hilltop Apartments, Marion, was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. The county ambulance director also responded to the call.

6:26 p.m. — A feverish 85-year-old man was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance from the 100 block of N. Wilson St. in Hillsboro

SATURDAY

7:45 a.m. — A man choking in the 800 block of Olive St. in Peabody was checked by Peabody EMTs but declined to be taken to a hospital.

1:50 p.m. — A pedestrian, reportedly walking with his hands in the air while asking people to hit him near 5th and Main Sts. in Florence, was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. En route, EMTs reported an erratic driver to sheriff’s deputies. Florence ambulance originally was called, but only one EMT responded.

8:53 p.m. — A 63-year-old woman with chest pains in the 800 block of S. Roosevelt St. in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

9:29 p.m. — A woman who fell at a residence in the 200 block of S. Kennedy St. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. Hillsboro firefighters helped lift.

SUNDAY

4:38 a.m. — A man with chest pains in the 100 block of W. 7th St. in Florence was taken to St. Luke by Florence ambulance.

4:53 a.m. — A man complaining of dizziness at a residence near 220th and Upland Rds. was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

2:12 p.m. — A man who became dizzy and collapsed in the 500 block of Walnut St. in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. The county ambulance director also responded.

2:35 p.m. — An 80-year-old woman who was having trouble breathing in the 100 block of S. Wilson St. was examined but apparently not transported to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

MONDAY

4:02 a.m. — A St. Luke patient was transferred to St. Francis by Marion ambulance.

9:43 a.m. — A 21-year-old man who fell in the 100 block of N. Cedar St. in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. The county ambulance director also responded.

4:50 p.m. — An HCH patient was transferred to Kansas Heart by Hillsboro ambulance.
