Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

AUG. 4

12:14 p.m. — A patient with undisclosed symptoms in the 100 block of E. 9th St. in Florence was taken to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, after Marion ambulance was alerted by a medical alarm company.

2:57 p.m. — A patient who previously had been taken to Newton Medical Center was returned to Bethesda Home in Goessel by Hillsboro ambulance.

4:21 p.m. — Marion ambulance was preparing to transfer a St. Luke patient to Via Christi – St. Joseph Hospital, Wichita, when police asked that it instead transport to St. Luke a patient from the 200 block of N. Cedar St. in Marion. Police had been summoned after a resident, safely locked inside, could not get an unwelcome visitor to leave the residence’s front porch. The original transfer to Wichita was completed afterward.

AUG. 5

11:43 a.m. — A truck driver in his 60s was pronounced dead at Barkman Honey, Hillsboro. Hillsboro ambulance and police remained at the scene for more than an hour.

4:31 p.m. — An 83-year-old woman with chest pains was taken from Homestead Senior Residences, Marion, to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

10:21 p.m. — A woman in her 80s who fell at a residence in the 300 block of Willow Rd. declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

THURSDAY

12:23 a.m. — A 72-year-old man with back pain was taken by Tampa ambulance to Herington Hospital from Vista Rd. just south of Lost Springs. A Lincolnville first responder helped with the call.

10:41 a.m. — A 57-year-old woman who was found lying on the ground along Main St. in Florence was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

12:29 p.m. — A Marion Assisted Living Center resident with a cough and fever was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Luke for evaluation ordered by a physician.

1:57 p.m. — A St. Luke patient was urgently transferred by Marion ambulance to Via Christi – St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

FRIDAY

1:51 p.m. — A patient was transferred from St. Francis back to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

4:02 p.m. — A patient was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, back to a residence on Victory Lane in Marion.

7:22 p.m. — A 63-year-old woman was transferred from St. Luke to St. Francis.

SATURDAY

1:22 a.m. — A woman involved in a one-vehicle accident on US-50 east of Quail Creek Rd. declined to be taken to a hospital by Peabody ambulance. Marion ambulance and Peabody rescue squad and firefighters initially were dispatched as well.

7:08 p.m. — An unconscious 67-year-old woman, an apparent victim of a stroke in the 300 block of S. Cedar St., Marion, was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. Hillsboro ambulance attendants and Marion firefighters assisted with cardiopulmonary resuscitation. A LifeSafe helicopter then transported the patient from St. Luke to Wesley.

11:25 p.m. — A 21-year-old woman who suffered chest pains after her car hit a deer at U.S.-50 and Old Mill Rd. declined to be taken to a hospital by Peabody ambulance. She was checked out at Peabody police station, where she had been taken after the accident.

SUNDAY

9:00 a.m. — An alarm company quickly canceled a false fire alarm at Peabody Health and Rehab.

9:27 p.m. — A 94-year-old woman with chest pains after suffering a seizure at Marion Assisted Living Center was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

MONDAY

1:53 a.m. — A 67-year-old man was transferred from St. Luke to Newton Med by Marion ambulance.

8:59 a.m. — A woman who fell while getting out of a shower at a residence near 59th and Newell Rds. was helped up by Peabody firefighters and ambulance attendants but declined to be taken to a hospital.

5:48 p.m. — A woman in her 40s with back pain was taken from the 100 block of E. 9th St. in Florence to Wesley by Marion ambulance. The ambulance had been bound for Newton Med but was diverted.

7:30 p.m. — A 51-year-old woman was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from St. Luke to Stormont Vail Hospital, Topeka. Dispatchers originally assigned the call to Marion ambulance, but attendants responded that they still were in Wichita. Hillsboro ambulance took the call only after St. Luke deemed the transfer urgent.
