Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

JUNE 20

3:27 a.m. — An uninjured 74-year-old man who fell at a farmhouse on 70th Rd. near the Harvey County line was helped up by Hillsboro ambulance attendants. He declined to be taken to a hospital.

12:42 p.m. — A 63-year-old woman having trouble breathing after taking new medication was taken by Marion ambulance from Homestead Senior Residences, Marion, to St. Luke Hospital, Marion.

JUNE 21

11:24 a.m. — A woman with a head laceration and nose discomfort after a domestic quarrel was checked by Marion ambulance attendants at Florence City Hall. She declined to be taken to a hospital. Florence first responders were paged but did not answer.

3:35 p.m. — An 86-year-old woman scheduled for surgery was transferred by Marion ambulance from Hillsboro Community Hospital to McPherson Center for Health. The ambulance, chosen instead of Hillsboro ambulance because advanced life support was needed, returned to Marion at 7:05 p.m.

THURSDAY

8:41 a.m. — Burns firefighters responded to a fire near NW 150th and NW Shumway Rds. in Butler County.

9:54 a.m. — An 81-year-old man with a heart condition was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center. The ambulance returned to Marion at 12:21 p.m.

FRIDAY

No dispatches were monitored.

SATURDAY

7:05 p.m. — A carbon monoxide alarm at a farmhouse near 90th and Holly Rds. was investigated by Peabody firefighters and ambulance attendants. The building was evacuated. Two occupants who felt lightheaded declined to be taken to a hospital.

11:31 p.m. — A 60-year-old man receiving intravenous fluids was transferred by Marion ambulance on a non-emergency basis from St. Luke to Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Marion at 1:21 a.m.

SUNDAY

4:41 a.m. — An 84-year-old man with high blood sugar was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance on a non-emergency basis from Parkside Homes, Hillsboro, to NMC Health. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 6:37 a.m.

7:35 a.m. — A woman who asked sheriff’s deputies for help obtaining medical supplies was taken by Hillsboro ambulance to HCH from the 200 block of S. Olive St. in Peabody.

MONDAY

10:37 a.m. — Marion firefighters helped a rural Lincolnville man in a wheelchair escape from a vehicle smoking after an accident in a parking lot at St. Luke Medical Clinic, Marion. Marion ambulance briefly was dispatched to check the man, but the call was canceled. A sheriff’s deputy gave the man a ride home.

10:45 p.m. — A 95-year-old man who fell twice at Parkside Homes, Hillsboro, was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.
