NOV. 21

11:01 p.m. — A 70-year-old male surgical patient was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from St. Luke Hospital, Marion, to Dole Veterans Affairs Hospital, Wichita. Marion ambulance was called to help with a cot malfunction at St. Luke. Hillsboro ambulance returned to its station at 1:53 a.m. after refueling in Marion.

NOV. 22

11:06 a.m. — A small grass fire started by sparking wires outside Marion Elementary School was stamped out by city workers before firefighters arrived to wet down the area as a precaution.

2:27 p.m. — A 33-year-old man with abdominal pain was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

5:58 p.m. — Peabody police asked Peabody firefighters to extinguish a small, unauthorized brush fire in a ditch in the 800 block of N. Olive St. in Peabody. The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes.

THURSDAY

3:21 p.m. — Hillsboro firefighters investigated a possibly leaking gas meter behind an apartment complex in the 100 block of N. Washington St., just north of their station.

FRIDAY

2:51 p.m. — Remains of a grass fire near 220th and Chisholm Trail Rds. were mopped up by Hillsboro and Lehigh firefighters, most of whom were told to disregard the call after the first firefighters arrived.

10:18 p.m. — A 72-year-old man who hurt his back and fell at a farmhouse near 210th and Remington Rds. was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

SATURDAY

2:04 a.m. — The patient taken to St. Luke four hours earlier was transferred to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita by Marion ambulance. The ambulance returned to Marion at 4:54 a.m.

6:36 a.m. — Although evaluated as being in potentially life-threatening condition, a 13-year-old boy having a seizure in a car that had pulled over on K-150 at the Chase County line declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. Hillsboro ambulance also responded to the call.

12:04 p.m. — Florence and Marion rescue squad members worked for nearly an hour to extricate a driver from a semi-trailer truck that rolled on its side on snow-packed US-77 near 140th Rd. Marion ambulance took the driver to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center. Hillsboro ambulance initially responded as well but was called off.

4:45 p.m. — A 49-year-old man vomiting blood in the 600 block of S. Washington St. in Hillsboro after a recent hospitalization for pneumonia, declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

SUNDAY

12:03 p.m. — Fire in a vehicle on US-77 at 140th Rd. was extinguished within 15 minutes by Florence firefighters who remained on the scene for nearly two hours.

12:51 p.m. — A 61-year-old county jail inmate who suffered a seizure was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

8:19 p.m. — A confused man taking chemotherapy and having heart palpitations and abnormal breathing at a residence on Lakeshore Dr. at Marion County Lake declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.

MONDAY

12:04 a.m. — An 81-year-old male sepsis patient was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to St. Francis. The ambulance returned to Marion at 2:41 a.m.

1:40 a.m. — With Marion ambulance in Wichita, a 73-year-old woman with a fever and lower abdominal pain was taken to St. Luke from a home on 275th Rd. in Pilsen by Hillsboro ambulance.

5:25 a.m. — Now diagnosed with appendicitis, the patient who was taken to St. Luke nearly four hours earlier was transferred by Marion ambulance to NMC Health.

11:21 a.m. — The same 61-year-old man who may have had a seizure at the county jail the day before again was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

2:59 p.m. — An initially unconscious 65-year-old woman at Signatures Salon in Marion, later experiencing arm pain, was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

3:51 p.m. — A 17-year-old boy who fell on ice in front of St. Luke Auxiliary Shoppe in downtown Marion and hurt his back was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

4:41 p.m. — Marion firefighters and ambulance were dispatched after a caller reported that a car had driven into a ditch on Sunflower Rd. just north of 160th Rd. Deputies who were first to arrive at the scene told firefighters to stand down. Two patients checked by ambulance attendants declined to be taken to a hospital.

7:01 p.m. — A shaking 99-year-old woman who would not open her eyes at Salem Home in Hillsboro was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.
