JAN. 16

11:50 a.m. — A 58-year-old woman critically low on sodium was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from Hillsboro Community Hospital to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 3 p.m.

4:21 p.m. — A 69-year-old man who fell and hurt his back was taken by Hillsboro ambulance from the 100 block of N. Vine St. in Peabody to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 6:57 p.m.

6:08 p.m. — Fire reported to be in a tree line near 40th and Yarrow Rds. was determined by Burns firefighters to have been an unreported controlled burn of a brush pile.

10:22 p.m. — A 60-year-old woman throwing up and suffering stomach pains at a house in the 200 block of W. Lincoln St. in Lost Springs was taken to St. Luke Hospital, Marion, by Tampa ambulance.

JAN. 17

3:47 a.m. — A 95-year-old woman reported by an alarm company to have chest pains and raspy breathing in the 300 block of 7th St. in Durham was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. Durham first responders were paged but did not answer.

6:13 p.m. — An 89-year-old woman suffering from trauma was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to St. Francis. The ambulance returned to Marion at 8:52 p.m.

8:18 p.m. — With Marion ambulance still not back from Wichita, Hillsboro ambulance was dispatched for a 28-year-old man having trouble breathing at Homestead Affordable Housing in Marion. He declined to be taken to a hospital.

10:25 p.m. — A 66-year-old woman with cardiac issues was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center. The ambulance returned to Marion at 12:16 a.m.

THURSDAY

8:10 a.m. — Marion firefighters spent about 10 minutes cleaning up a gasoline spill reported by a passer-by at Ampride in Marion.

11:27 a.m. — A 92-year-old man with unspecified symptoms was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to NMC Health. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 1:42 p.m.

FRIDAY

12:21 p.m. — A 61-year-old man who hurt his leg in a fall earlier in the week was taken by Marion ambulance to St. Francis from the 300 block of N. Cedar St. in Marion. Marion firefighters helped lift the patient. The ambulance returned at 3:50 p.m., stopping in Hillsboro for supplies.

3:13 p.m. — An 85-year-old man needing emergency surgery was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to St. Francis. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 5:37 p.m.

4:56 p.m. — With Hillsboro ambulance not yet back from Wichita, Marion ambulance and Hillsboro first responders were sent to a car parked in the 700 block of S. Washington St. in Hillsboro for a 44-year-old woman having chest pains and numbness in her left arm. She was taken to HCH by Marion ambulance.

6:20 p.m. — A 66-year-old woman on blood thinners was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 8:35 p.m.

6:33 p.m. — An elderly woman unconscious after choking in the 100 block of Elm St. in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. Marion police assisted.

9:27 p.m. — A 59-year-old woman with an abdominal hernia was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Wesley. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 11:44 p.m.

SATURDAY

1:57 a.m. — The same 28-year-old man who 2½ days earlier declined to be taken to a hospital from Homestead Affordable Housing in Marion again reported chest pains, this time after consuming a gummy containing THC, the active ingredient in marijuana, and having consumed methamphetamine two or three days earlier. Marion police and ambulance both were dispatched. The ambulance took the man to St. Luke.

10:06 a.m. — A 90-year-old woman who fell in her garage in the 300 block of N. Walnut St. in Peabody and suffered what was described as a small cut declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance. Peabody ambulance was paged but did not answer.

1:19 p.m. — A 50-year-old woman who reportedly turned pale in the 200 block of S. Cedar St. in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

7:01 p.m. — A 57-year-old woman with a pulmonary embolism was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Marion at 10:24 p.m.

7:40 p.m. — Fire that engulfed an unoccupied Suzuki Sidekick on US-56 east of Bison Rd. was extinguished within 30 minutes by Hillsboro firefighters. Hillsboro ambulance also responded but was not needed. Lehigh firefighters were paged but did not answer.

SUNDAY

6:45 a.m. — Hillsboro firefighters checked an odor of overheated wiring at a home in the 100 block of S. Lincoln St. in Hillsboro and determined that it was not a fire but rather a problem with a furnace.

11:05 p.m. — An uninjured 87-year-old man who fell at Marion Assisted Living was helped up by Marion ambulance attendants. He declined to be taken to a hospital.

MONDAY

7 a.m. — Hillsboro firefighters and ambulance were called for an uninjured driver initially reported to be trapped in a vehicle that rolled onto its top on icy US-56 west of Limestone Rd. The first firefighter on the scene found the man walking around outside the vehicle, and the fire call was canceled. The ambulance continued, but the driver declined to be taken to a hospital.

9:42 p.m. — A 79-year-old man who fell at a home in the 600 block of N. Elm St. in Peabody was helped up by Peabody police and firefighters, and a call to Hillsboro ambulance was canceled.
