Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

JULY 16

12:21 a.m. — An unresponsive 55-year-old man at Westview Manor in Peabody was taken to NMC Health, formerly Newton Medical Center, by Marion ambulance. The ambulance returned to Marion at 3:05 a.m. An ambulance supervisor also responded.

10:26 a.m. — A 32-year-old man at Hillsboro Community Hospital was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance to Kansas Heart Hospital, Wichita.

11:15 a.m. — A ruptured gas line at Lombard and Main Sts. in Lincolnville was monitored by Tampa firefighters until an Atmos Energy crew arrived. Only one Lincolnville firefighter responded after four pages.

3:55 p.m. — A 62-year-old woman needing surgery was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to McPherson Center for Health. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 5:22 p.m.

5:57 p.m. — A 77-year-old woman was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 8:26 p.m.

6:28 p.m. — An uninjured man who fell and rolled under a pickup truck at a garage in the 300 block of N. Lincoln St. in Hillsboro was helped up by Hillsboro firefighters and an ambulance supervisor. Marion ambulance was paged, but attendants were told to disregard the call. The patient declined to be taken to a hospital.

JULY 17

3:36 p.m. — A 30-year-old man was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke Hospital, Marion, to Wesley. The ambulance returned to Marion at 7:42 p.m. after stopping in Hillsboro for supplies.

5:39 p.m. — A 63-year-old man with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease at Salem Home in Hillsboro was transferred to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

8:01 p.m. — An 89-year-old man who collapsed at a home on Hill Rd. at Marion County Lake revived before Marion ambulance arrived and declined to be taken to a hospital.

8:19 p.m. — Immediately upon completing its call to the county lake, Marion ambulance transferred a patient from St. Luke to Wesley. The ambulance returned to Marion at 11:29 p.m.

THURSDAY

6:39 a.m. — A 911 call about a fire alarm supposedly going off at an unspecified men’s dormitory at Tabor College was determined by Hillsboro firefighters to have been a false alarm.

11:50 a.m. — A 90-year-old woman with abdominal pain and nausea at Marion Assisted Living was taken to St. Luke by Hillsboro ambulance, which had been in Marion at the time.

12:31 p.m. — With Hillsboro ambulance tied up in Marion, Marion ambulance was sent to the 100 block of S. Floral Dr. in Hillsboro to help lift an uninjured person who fell. Hillsboro ambulance attendants interjected that they would respond as well and asked for Hillsboro first responders to be called, too. The patient declined to be taken to a hospital.

2:42 p.m. — A 78-year-old woman who fell at a farm east of Mustang Rd. on US-50 declined to be taken to a hospital by Hillsboro ambulance.

4:31 p.m. — Two people, including one complaining of mild chest and knee pain and the other with no apparent injury, were taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance after a two-vehicle accident at US-50 and Nighthawk Rd. just north of Peabody. Peabody firefighters and rescue squad members and Marion and Hillsboro ambulances were dispatched. Sheriff’s deputies and a Peabody police officer directed traffic for more than 2½ hours. Tampa ambulance stood by at Canada in case of additional calls. Hillsboro ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 6:35 p.m.

8:06 p.m. — A 54-year-old woman was gastric issues was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley. The ambulance returned to Marion at 10:44 p.m.

FRIDAY

7:16 a.m. — A person who fell at a Parkside Homes duplex in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

11:49 a.m. — Marion ambulance attendants helped lift a patient with a neck injury who fell at St. Luke Living Center in Marion. The patient was transferred to St. Luke Hospital but not by ambulance.

8:23 p.m. — A confused 89-year-old man at a home in the 600 block of S. Freeborn St. in Marion declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. Relatives planned to take him instead.

SATURDAY

10:31 a.m. — A 70-year-old man possibly having a stroke at a farm near 100th and Alamo Rds. was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance. An ambulance supervisor and a Goessel first responder helped evaluate the patient. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 12:53 p.m.

3:43 p.m. — An 87-year-old man with abdominal pain at a home in the 400 block of Briarwood Ln. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

SUNDAY

4:39 a.m. — A 32-year-old woman with abdominal pain at a home in the 200 block of S. Adams St. in Hillsboro was taken on an emergency basis to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. An ambulance supervisor, who also responded, asked for Hillsboro firefighters to be dispatched to HCH to help but canceled that call before firefighters arrived. A backup ambulance apparently was called instead. At 8:25 a.m., Hillsboro ambulance transferred the patient on an emergency basis to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.

MONDAY

7:14 a.m. — A 65-year-old woman with chest pains at Hilltop Manor apartments in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

8:17 a.m. — A fire alarm at a Hillsboro Hardware building in the 100 block of N. Ash St. was determined to be a false alarm caused by smoke from work being done on a lawn mower.

4:02 p.m. — A driver with am outstanding arrest warrant and complaining of dizziness after being stopped by Hillsboro police on Goldenrod Rd. just north of US-56 was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. An ambulance supervisor also responded to the call.

4:29 p.m. — A 76-year-old man who fell and cut his elbow at a farmhouse near 200th and Nighthawk Rds. was taken to HCH by Marion ambulance. An ambulance supervisor again joined the ambulance in responding to the call.

6:58 p.m. — A 78-year-old man who suffered a stroke was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance from HCH to Wesley. The ambulance returned to Hillsboro at 9:15 p.m.
