Broadcasts about these fire and ambulance calls were monitored this past week by the newspaper:

JULY 14

1 p.m. — A 41-year-old man vomiting blood at Westview Manor in Peabody was taken to NMC Health, Newton, by Hillsboro ambulance.

1:13 p.m. — An 81-year-old woman suffering from kidney failure was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke Hospital, Marion, to Wesley Woodlawn Hospital, Wichita.

1:34 p.m. — A person involved in what was described as a rollover accident at the former Family Dollar store in Peabody was examined by a first responder and taken to NMC Health by medics aboard a backup ambulance based in Hillsboro. Tampa ambulance was ordered to stand by in Hillsboro until 3:39 p.m. in case of additional calls.

4:15 p.m. — A 66-year-old sheriff’s deputy suffering from possible heat exhaustion at the sheriff’s office in Marion was examined by medics aboard Marion ambulance but declined to be taken to a hospital.

JULY 15

10:08 a.m. — A 76-year-old man suffering post-surgical back pain at a home near 340th and Timber Rd. was taken to St. Luke by Tampa ambulance.

10:25 a.m. — Marion ambulance and Florence firefighters were dispatched for a reportedly confused pickup truck driver who hit a deer on US-50 a mile west of Florence, but the first firefighter to arrive canceled the call before other units arrived.

11:03 a.m. — A 57-year-old woman with chest pain at Homestead Senior Residences in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

4:24 p.m. — A 65-year-old woman who may have suffered a seizure at Homestead Senior Residences was taken to Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, by Marion ambulance, which was diverted there from St. Luke and NMC Health.

9:10 p.m. — A 97-year-old woman with congestive heart failure was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley Woodlawn.

THURSDAY

3:55 a.m. — An 88-year-old man who fell, cut his arm, and hurt his back at a home on Lois Ln. at Marion County Park and Lake declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance.

8:15 a.m. — An 81-year-old man who fell down basement stairs and hurt his arm at a farmhouse near 370th and Upland Rd. was taken to St. Luke by Tampa ambulance. Lincolnville first responders were paged but did not initially answer, so Herington firefighters also were dispatched.

11:19 a.m. — A report of a natural gas odor at Indian Guide Terrace Apartments in Peabody was determined by Peabody firefighters to be a false alarm.

2:26 p.m. — An inmate who was pushed and hurt his head at the county jail in Marion was checked by medics aboard Marion ambulance but declined to be taken to a hospital.

5:26 p.m. — A 75-year-old woman who tripped on a threshold at a farmhouse near US-56 and Nighthawk Rd. and fell onto her face was taken to St. Luke by Hillsboro ambulance.

6:51 p.m. — A 77-year-old woman not feeling well at Parkside Homes in Hillsboro was transferred by Hillsboro ambulance to Hillsboro Community Hospital. An ambulance supervisor also responded.

9:27 p.m. — A 71-year-old man needing surgery was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to NMC Health.

FRIDAY

9:36 a.m. — A 52-year-old man not feeling well after taking medication at a home in the 600 block of S. Washington St. in Hillsboro was taken to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance.

3:02 p.m. — A 19-year-old woman drifting in and out of consciousness and possibly suffering a seizure across from the Sports and Aquatics Center in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance. An ambulance supervisor also responded.

7:22 p.m. — A 72-year-old man with suspected diabetic issues at a farmhouse near 300th and Goldenrod Rds. was taken to HCH by Tampa ambulance. Durham first responders cared for the man until the ambulance arrived.

SATURDAY

4:20 a.m. — An 88-year-old woman disoriented and with a high fever at a home in Aulne was taken to St. Luke by Hillsboro ambulance.

7:52 a.m. — What appeared to be the same patient, now diagnosed with sepsis, was transferred by Marion ambulance from St. Luke to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

10:35 a.m. — Hillsboro firefighters stood by during a controlled burn at the county fairgrounds in Hillsboro.

1 p.m. — A 72-year-old woman with chest pains at Parkside Homes was taken to NMC Health by Hillsboro ambulance.

1:17 p.m. — Fire that fully engulfed a vehicle near 240th and Falcon Rds. was extinguished within 20 minutes by Hillsboro firefighters, who asked that law enforcement officers also respond. Lehigh firefighters also were dispatched but were told before they arrived that they wouldn’t be needed.

1:53 p.m. — A fire alarm at Westview Manor in Peabody was canceled by an alarm company before Peabody firefighters arrived.

4:18 p.m. — An 81-year-old woman having trouble breathing at Sunrise Townhomes in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

6:17 p.m. — A man trapped when a vehicle rolled onto its side behind a house in the 300 block of Burbridge St. in Marion was extricated by Marion firefighters, who had to be paged twice to get enough responders. He declined to be taken to a hospital by Marion ambulance. An ambulance supervisor also responded.

8:27 p.m. — Hillsboro ambulance was called for a woman who fell at Indian Guide Terrace, but her daughter arrived before the ambulance and said it would not be needed.

SUNDAY

6:44 a.m. — A 72-year-old woman with trouble breathing at a different Indian Guide Terrace apartment was taken to St. Luke by Hillsboro ambulance.

6:52 a.m. — A 78-year-old woman with back pain after twisting her ankle at a home near Lakeshore Dr. and Rock Rd. at Marion County Park and Lake was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.

12:01 p.m. — A fire alarm at St. Luke was determined to be a false alarm before Marion firefighters arrived.

10:15 p.m. — A 92-year-old woman suffering constipation was transferred on physician’s orders from Parkside Homes to HCH by Hillsboro ambulance. An ambulance supervisor also responded.

11:54 p.m. — A 55-year-old man who tripped and fell at a home in the 500 block of S. Cedar St. in Marion was helped up by Marion ambulance medics. He declined to be taken to a hospital.

MONDAY

8:29 a.m. — A person who may have taken too much fentanyl at a home in the 900 block of Melvin St. in Marion was taken to St. Luke by Marion ambulance.
