Emler sworn in on KCC

Jay Scott Emler was sworn in as a commissioner of the Kansas Corporation Commission Friday in Topeka.

His duties will include a shared responsibility with two other commissioners who are tasked with ensuring that natural gas, electricity, telephone, and transportation vendors provide safe, adequate, and reliable services at reasonable rates.

Emler was appointed by Gov. Sam Brownback Jan. 8 and confirmed on Thursday by the Kansas Senate. His term expires March 15, 2015.

Prior to the KCC, Emler served in the Kansas Senate where he represented the 35th District, which includes Marion County, for 13 years.
