After serving as interim CEO, chief nursing officer and Jeremy Ensey has replaced Jeremy Armstrong as CEO of St. Luke Hospital and Living Center.
“I’m a little nervous because it’s a new challenge,” Ensey said. “But I am very excited to take on the challenge.”
Ensey became interim CEO June 9, three days after Armstrong left to start as CEO at Mitchell County Hospital and Health Systems in Beloit.
“Interim” was removed from his title by Hospital District No. 1 board members July 22.
“In the short time that Jeremy has been the interim CEO, he has handled the position very well with confidence and initiative,” board president Mike Connell said. “We felt he would be a good fit as a permanent administrator.”
Ensey has wanted to become a hospital CEO,
“It was a long-term career goal I was pursuing,” he said. “I’m also very happy to have family here in the area. My parents are here, and I have three grandparents here, too.”
Ensey said his duties have completely expanded.
“It will take a little while to adjust to the policies and procedures,” he said. “I’m still a nurse at heart.”
