Esther Funk

Esther Funk, 82, of Newton, died May 2, 2009, at her home.

Born May 12, 1926, in Corn, Okla., she was the daughter of John L. and Sarah (Wiens) Martin.

She was a homemaker and librarian of Hillsboro Public Library.

On May 29, 1945, she married Harry Roy Funk in Corn. He preceded her in death April 24, 2009. Four brothers and five sisters also preceded her.

Survivors include two sons, Dewayne Funk of Clinton, Okla., and Kenneth Funk of Destrehan, La.; two daughters, Peggy Voth of Calgary, Canada, and Maxine Kirkpatrick of Wichita; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Services are today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, Newton, with Pastor Peggy Voth officiating.

A graveside service was at 10 a.m. today (Wednesday) at Restlawn Gardens of Memory, Newton.

A memorial fund has been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and may be sent in care of Petersen Funeral Home, 215 N. Main, Newton, 67114.
