Hillsboro High School Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America members Ashley Bartel, Alyssa Bettles, Emily Hoskinson, Aubrey Meier, and Ashlyn Simmons competed nationally in FCCLA Knowledge Bowl for the second consecutive year.

They competed at the organization’s National Leadership Conference, July 9 through 14 in Anaheim, Calif. They were one of 15 teams to advance to the national conference.

Adviser Monica Leihy said they competed well, but they did not advance to the finals. In 2010 they placed third at the national conference in Chicago.

Other events at the conference included keynote speakers, professional development for students and advisers, and youth workshops.

In addition to attending the conference, the students visited Huntington Beach, Disneyland, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and Pirates Adventure dinner theater.
