Fern Vogt Unruh

Fern Vogt Unruh, 99, died Sunday at Salem Home in Hillsboro. She was born Sept. 23, 1914, to Walter and Iva (Philips) Newton at Cowgill, Mo.

She married John F. Vogt on June 30, 1935. He predeceased her in 1973. She married Herbert Unruh on March 25, 1990. He predeceased her in 2004. She was also preceded in death by a son, Jerold Vogt in 2009.

She is survived by her daughter, Joanne Foyle of Emporia; a stepson, Jim Unruh of Wichita; a sister, Betty Seibel of Peabody; four grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hillsboro United Methodist Church. Family will receive guests from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Jost Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

A memorial fund has been established with the church.
