Florence will have three days of activities to celebrate Labor Day weekend.

The party will kick off with a street dance from at 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday. Entertainment will be provided by DJ Mac. Participants are being encouraged to bring chairs, coolers, and dancing shoes. No glass bottles will be allowed.

A church service is planned at 11 a.m. Sunday at Grandview Park. It will be followed by an old-fashioned potluck lunch. Participants are being encouraged to bring a covered dish.

A vintage baseball game will begin at 6 p.m. at the baseball field. An ice cream social will be at 7 p.m. At dark will be a fireworks show.

Monday will begin with a car show and cowboy polo, both at 8 a.m.

Cowboy polo will be at the practice field east of the baseball field. Concessions will be served by the library. Balls and brooms will be provided.

The car show, with door prizes and trophies for the top cars, will be in front of the American Legion Hall on Main St. Entry fee is $20 and prizes will be given in the early afternoon.

Bryan Harper memorial horseshoe tournament will be at 9 a.m. in Unity Park. Entry fee is $10. Also starting at 9 a.m. will be a quilt show in the city hall meeting room.

A photography show will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the ambulance building. Categories are hometown pride, black and white, and animals.

What’s a small town celebration without a parade? Participants for an 11 a.m. parade will check in at 10 a.m. at the football field.

Kids activities, including cornhole boards, water game, turtle races, an inflatable obstacle course, face painting, foot and gunny sack races, egg toss, and needle in a haystack games will start at noon.

4H and FFA Olympics events begin at 2 p.m. Teams of four will compete in different relays and strategic games. Ages 12 and over can get more information at (620) 381-1090.

Also at 2 p.m. is cow chip bingo sponsored by the fire department. Entertainment for the day will be provided by Jeff Davidson at noon, Roy Patton at 1 p.m., and Dylan Delk at 2 p.m., at Veterans Park.
