CiboTech owner Dan Madgwick has resolved a lawsuit over his plans to open a lab in Marion to examine contaminated food and is going forward with his plans.
Madgwick said the lawsuit by his former employer, Alteca Ltd., was settled Nov. 19. He is satisfied with the results, but will have to change his business plan slightly in the short run.
“In a settlement, there’s give and take,” Madgwick said. “We’re just excited to be able to jump back into things and proceed as planned.”
He said the terms of the settlement won’t substantially affect his long-term plans. He will gradually add equipment and capabilities to his lab, and he should be able to start accepting some business from restaurants and food companies as soon as the start of 2014.
“It’s neat to see this dream kind of realized finally,” Madgwick said.
