Forensics and music students earn accolades

Marion students recently competed in forensics and music competitions.

Forensics

Two forensics team members qualified at a forensics tournament in Sedgwick to go to state championships.

Senior Sadie Lange earned a fifth-place medal in poetry. Sophomore Alyera Koehn came in second in solo serious acting. Sophomore Sara Groening also competed but did not qualify to move on to the state tournament in May.

Sadie and Ella Mackey also competed in a March 25 invitational at Hoisington High School. The team did not advance to finals of the tournament.

Music

Marion Middle School band and choir students competed in the Heart of America League middle school music festival March 7 at Hoisington.

Their scores were:

1+ — Choristers, Jessica Methvin vocal solo, and Jordy Raymer vocal solo.

1 — Seventh and eighth grade band, mixed wind ensemble 1 and 2, Alexandra Carlson clarinet solo, Shelby Sumervill flute solo, eighth grade girls ensemble, seventh grade boys ensemble, Alexandra Carlson vocal solo, and Rylee Thomas vocal solo.

1- — Clarinet ensemble, seventh grade girls ensemble, eight grade boys ensemble, Kael Dameron vocal solo, Grayson Smith vocal solo, and Hitch Soyez vocal solo.

II+ — Kayleigh Pacelli clarinet solo, Maddison Beery bass clarinet solo, Kaelynn Metro vocal solo, and Tandice Tajchman vocal solo.

II — Flute ensemble, percussion trio, Benjamin Becker snare drum solo, and combined seventh and eighth grade choir.
